About Body of Christ

Our Ministry Team

Mission Developer Carrie Stine ("Carrie")
Pastor Rev. Scott Swix ("Scott" or "Pastor Scott")
Carrie and Scott are a mission team, sharing their gifts, talents and desire to serve with Body of Christ.

Carrie and Scott are also walking with and serving Hope Community Church, a congregation in development located  in Rockford, MI.  They both lead worship, preach and preside over Holy Communion at both congregations, at either location on any particular Sunday.

Our Vision

We are a faith-filled, joyful, Spirit-led people of God who welcome and invite everyone to experience and accept the great love of God we have found through Christ.

Our Mission

We gather in faith, celebrate in joy, and go in peace to bring the Good News of Jesus through our community to the world.

Our Values

We affirm seven values that guide us in carrying out our mission.  The first letters of each value spells out the principle that underlies all of our actions:  WELCOME!
Worship: Christ-centered worship is our greatest joy
Education: We strive to learn to be faithful disciples of Christ
Love: We strive to love one another as Christ loves us -- unconditionally
Community: We are bound together in Christ, where everyone has value
Opportunity: We offer everyone the opportunity to use their skills for Christ
Mentor: We strive to mentor and encourage each other on our spiritual journey
Evangelism: We are committed to bringing others into relationship with Christ

Let the Little Children Come!

It is important to have children of all ages participate in our worship services.  In our baptismal service, parents, sponsors and the whole congregation promise to bring children to worship.  Bringing children into the sanctuary is something like allowing a child to eat at the dinner table.  Even though their manners are far from elegant, it is done so children will learn and feel a part of the family.  Inviting children to participate is the most powerful way to teach them.  Children giggle, they poke, they ask questions and they swing their legs simply because they are children.  Young children in worship may have bad moments, but it is their birthright as Christians to worship.  Children learn by experience.  This is how we learn to worship and become active members of this church community.  Children learn how to welcome by how they are welcomed.  Please join us in expressing joy at having children worship with us and join us in giving prayers and thanks to God for each child's presence.
